Dr. Sharpe graduated from the St. George's University School of Medicine in 1986. He served his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University. Dr. Sharpe is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Tennessee Medical Association.

Dr. Sharpe is the Medical Director of Athens Medical Group Lipid Clinic and Athens Regional Medical Center's Cardiac Rehabilitation Center located at Athens Medical Group.

Dr. Sharpe is an avid pilot, licensed since 1998. He has been appointed as an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform civilian airmen physical exams. This appointment authorizes the physician to perform medical examinations for commercial airmen, student and private pilots, and to issue or deny issuance of FAA Medical Certificates.

Dr. Sharpe is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
