Do I get a lot of radiation from having an X-Ray?
You do not get a lot of radiation from the type
of X-Rays taken at our facility. It has been said that a
patient would receive more radiation from being in the sun all
day than they would from one chest X-Ray.
If the amount of radiation is minimal, then why do you go behind the wall to take my picture?
X-Ray Techs are exposed to radiation all day,
unlike the patient who is getting only one X-Ray. The X-Ray Techs
have to protect themselves as much as possible.
How long will it take for the doctor to get my X-Ray results?
Approximately two (2) days.
Will I know anything about my X-Ray before I leave the office
today?
After the films are developed they are taken
to your doctor. He/She will give you a preliminary report about
your X-Rays. They will then be sent to a radiologist for a final
reading.
Who reads my X-Rays?
The same radiologist who reads X-Rays for the
hospital reads the X-Rays for Athens Medical Group: McMinn Medical
Imaging.
Do I have to undress for my X-Ray?
This will depend upon the type of clothing that
you wear and if it has any metal over the area being X-Rayed (i.e.
snaps, zippers, etc.)
